Accidental injury

Compensation for innocent bystanders

Generally, compensation is not paid for accidental injury. However, there are some exceptions. If you were accidentally injured while trying to prevent or deal with an offence, or if you were an innocent bystander during an attempt to catch a suspected offender and were accidentally injured, you may be entitled to compensation. This applies even if the suspected offence was not a violent crime.
