Criminal injury case study 1
Client overview
Our client was a 20-year-old man who had recently began work in a city centre bar. He was enjoying his job and had just moved into his first rented flat. During the course of a weekend evening a small amount of trouble broke out in the bar and a woman attempted to physically attack the landlord.
The bar attack
Even after the first attack the woman attempted to be served by our client. Our client refused her request and asked her to leave the bar. At this point the woman became violent again and threatened our client with physical violence from other members of the party.
20 minutes after being ejected from the bar, the woman’s son and husband entered the bar with knives. Our client was stabbed and punched repeatedly by the men. The police were called and all of the attackers were arrested.
How Serious Law helped
Our client contacted us in the week following the attack. We immediately attended a meeting at his house and began to collect evidence on his behalf. We took photographs of his injuries and prepared witness statements. We completed the CICA claim process for him and have managed this over the course of the case. We obtained five-figure compensation within five months of the attack. We also arranged for a session of private counselling sessions to allow him to overcome the nightmares he was experiencing.
The situation now
Today, our client is back working at the bar and moving on with his life following this horrendous incident that affected him mentally as well as physically.
